Now continued…

And I am back… Whew what a couple of weeks that was.   Physically drained spiritually filled.

Our work from God is the people he puts in our life.  We are created to do that work through Christ Jesus…

Some up coming posts to be written (Titles subject to change as post are written):

My most intimate…

Where are you at God’s table (Lessons learned listening to John Maynard talk about Luke 15:11-32)….

Who feeds my desires…

Our Identity as worthy…

Stories Told…

Where are the Dad’s….

So real quick, before I attack work again today.

My heart is broken for this generation, and the crap they are dealing with at such a young age.  Satan doing his best to win them to the world. But, when the Holy Spirit moves, He moves.   We experienced that movement this past two weeks, and we are blessed beyond measure to have experienced it first hand…

To be continued…

Two week notice…

I look forward to this every year.  For the next two weeks I will be amongst 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at Church Camp…I have done 3rd & 5th grade camp the past 2 years, so this will be a different experience.  6th grade camp is next week, then 7th & 8th the following week.

With that … I will be back to blogging somewhere around the 27th, that is if I have caught up on my sleep…

Maybe I will do my best Bill Murray…Meatballs impersonation while at camp.

Final thoughts on Willard and Church Camp…

I always stand amazed when God works to bring lessons in life full circle. He did just that this week.

For the past 8 weeks, I have been reading and discussing with a group of men, “Divine Conspiracy” by Dallas Willard.  The book was a huge encouragement to me and everything learned about my faith in Christ over the past 4 years.

We have a tendency to put God in some distant heaven, that we can not experience here on earth.  God works how God works.  He is the creator of a cosmos bigger than our imagination can know.  He constantly works to put the pieces of the cosmos together to do the work of His will.

As I read scripture and discussed Willard’s book,  I see God the creator of the Cosmos has been working hard on me these past 4 years, Willard has clarified for me that God does not work at a distance, but from the very space in heaven that surrounds us everyday.

I do not claim to know the will of God, but maybe have a smaller clarification for His plan in my life.  It starts Him working to change the intentional actions of my heart into that of a Disciple of Christ.  Transforming my attitude and actions to be that of Christ himself. Romans 12: 1-2 and Phil 2:5-11 help us understand the transformation we are to have. Philippians shows us the example of Christ and how he transformed himself so we can have a model to pattern ourselves after so we can live out Romans 12:1-2.

What does this have to do with Church Camp?

For 4 days at Camp we taught 3-5 graders about Jesus and his example of how we are to live as His followers.  That we are to be obedient to God’s call of Baptism.  We are to become Fishers of men, teaching that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ.  That through the living water of Christ he will sustain us and we will live forever.  In the storms of life Jesus is with us bring us peace, by silencing the storms, and calming the seas.  Like Peter we need to trust and have faith that Jesus will be with us as we walk through this world, and will catch us when we fall.  And, Jesus’ attitude was that of a servant, and we must take on that same attitude in Love.

These lessons from camp did a better job of summarizing Discipleship, even better than I can after reading Willard.   While on this earth we must come to the wisdom of moment by moment living for Jesus. We can not allow the world to drag us into the false misconception that it is ok to put God in the margins of our life, and as Disciples we must see every moment as a opportunity to model Christ to others. Jesus never stopped being God, nor should we stop allowing Him to use us as His instrument to work His Father’s will through us. All for His Father’s glory.

Phil 2:5-11 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7 but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death–
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Camp thoughts…..

To say I am speechless about tonight is an understatement.

The group of campers as a whole have been amazing. Family group though has been beyond amazing. Here are a few things…

For 3 days I have been working with the boys in the group on letting the girls go first. At first it seemed hopeless, but every chance I got I held them back so the girls could go ahead. When the group was called for dinner I would corral the boys, walking from place to place I would hold the boys back. Well tonight when our team was called to dinner it wasn’t me holding the boys back, it was a couple of the boys themselves. Chivalry is not dead just needs to be re-emphasized.

For 3 days we have been jumping and dancing during worship. And that is just the Adults. The campers have been the mellow ones.

When campers end team time devotionals spontaneously on their knees…God is moving.

My daughter ditched me for swim time yesterday. A bit sad for me, but more proof of her maturing since she didn’t want to leave her Friend without a buddy.

Shark attack…do do do do do. Shark attack.

Played a game that involved running from campers who where sharks and they were trying to get my flag. The campers have gotten faster this year. It. couldn’t be that I am slower, could it? Nah!!

As we wrap up today, I am again awed at the power of Christ working on the hearts of these kids. They are all amazing and you can’t help but fall in love with all of them.

Church camp is adicting, God is a Great Great God, and he is Good all the time.

Day one

Day one.

Yes I volunteered to be the dorm Dad, but their is a great group of men her to help out.

All things considered quite impressed with the group of kids. 12:30 and the bunks are fairly quite. Well except for the JR volunteers….hang on while I crack some heads.

Ok..where was I.

Lucas is my only concern when it comes to home sickness. This is his first time away from home at a camp like this. He is scared, and tired at the same time. The goal is to get him through the night and get him focused on camp activities tomorrow. Good kid.

The white team won the Spirit award for the scavanger hunt. My throat hurts from leading the chats of as we walked around the camp grounds looking for puzzle pieces. Family group time was awesome and every one of the kids was able to participate in the discussion. Don’t have all the names down yet but close.

Day one is done. Now about 1:00 as I sit outside the dorm of bunk 4. Lucas is in the bunk just inside the door. Every ounce of me wanted to let him call his parents. I think he has given up. I will find him first thing in the morning.

Father God you are a great great God. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you through these kids.

View’s of God

1 Then the LORD spoke to Job out of the storm. He said:

2 “Who is this that obscures my plans
with words without knowledge?
3 Brace yourself like a man;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.

Job 38: 1-3
